A CASA is a Court Appointed Special Advocate. Blue Ridge CASA for Children gathers volunteers to be CASAs for children in court, specifically in foster care. It is a national program that helps thousands of children.

the challenge

Create social media posts that entice individuals in the Shenandoah Valley to volunteer to be a CASA.

Using provided branding, create eight social media posts for Instagram and Facebook, two of which need to be interactive.

The solution

Kids need to be able to worry about the important things in their lives: school, friends, and more. When a kid is stuck going to court or in foster care, a lot of those things get thrown to the side for other worries. A CASA can be there to let kids enjoy themselves. It's time . . .

Purpose

Show the impacts of a child's life when they must spend their free time in court as opposed to what they could be doing instead.

Strategy

Have a heartfelt hook to ensure the viewers keep watching, focusing on the uplifting impact CASAs have on the children they serve.

Strategy

By using the "Quiz" feature of Instagram stories, viewers are able to test their own knowledge. By learning something new, viewers may be more likely to volunteer.

Purpose

A quick how-to guide on the definition of a CASA and what they do to help, while emphasizing the low time commitment for a CASA volunteer.

Strategy

This story shows the direct impact on the Harrisonburg area. Statistics can feel far off, so we chose to use data from the local branch to emphasize the impact in the community. 

Strategy

A link directly on the post allows any viewer to click directly onto the page to volunteer to be a CASA. It takes out the extra step of clicking onto their profile.

Purpose

An infographic that shows the need of volunteers and what volunteers are committed to, specifying that it is the Harrisonburg area.

Strategy

We wanted to create an infographic that could be versatile. It is easily a Facebook post, but could also be turned into a printed poster or flyer.
